Honor Roll and Awards

We take great pride in our Honor Roll program, which offers students in grades 3-8 a wonderful opportunity to strive for academic excellence each trimester.

Honor Roll
Students in 3rd through 8th grade are eligible to achieve the school’s Honor Roll for each trimester.
The Honor Roll Achievement is based on the 4-point grade average. A grade average of 3.5 to 3.749 will qualify a student for the Honor Roll. Those students whose grade the average is between 3.75 and 4.000, which will achieve the High Honor. Students who have a straight A average, in all subjects, or a 4.0 will achieve the highest honor of Principal Honor of Excellence.

The Honor Roll is calculated as follows:
Grade A – 4 points
Grade B – 3 points
Grade C – 2 points
Grade D – 1 points
Grade F – 0 points

Honor Roll is the student’s GPA calculated based on the average grades in the core subjects of Math, Literature, Language Mechanics, Science, Social Studies, and
Religion and the average of all the grades from the special classes (Music or band, Art, and PE).
Again, grades from Music, Art, PE, and Band will be averaged together for one grade in specials. Then this one grade is added to the grades from the core subjects and divided by 7.

For example, A student has the following grades in the core subjects:
Math – B (3 pts)
Language Mechanics – A (4 pts)
Literature – A (4 pts)
Science – A (4 pts)
Social Studies – B (3 pts)
Religion – A (4 pts)
Total points in the Core subjects: 22 (pts)

Specials:
Music – A (4 pts)
PE – A (4 pts)
Art – A (4 pts)
Spanish – A (4 pts)
Total points in the special subjects are 12 points divided by 3 equals 3

The overall grade for specials is an A or 4 points. These 4 points are then added to the 22-pts total from the core grades for a total of 26 pts. The 26 points are divided by 7, yielding a GPA for the trimester of 3.71. The student will then receive High Honor.
