Bee Respectful
Bee Kind
Bee a Friend

At St. Monica-St. Michael, we practice what we call the “Bee Philosophy.” The “Bee Philosophy” is a positive behavior support program that encourages students to “Bee respectful, Bee positive, Bee kind, and Bee a friend.” When any teacher or staff notice a child exhibiting one of these traits, they are rewarded with a bee sticker, which contributes to filling a classroom hive grid. Once the grid is full, the class earns a reward, such as a pizza party or extra recess.
The program, rooted in Catholic values, aims to promote kindness and emulate the behavior of Jesus. Teachers and administrators can also earn bee stickers for acts of kindness. The program focuses on positive reinforcement to minimize negative behavior and foster a positive learning environment. Our parents and students alike appreciate how it reinforces good behavior and creates a sense of community. Even the oldest students at our school get excited when they fill a beehive!
“The bee is more honored than other animals, not because she labors, but because she labors for others.“
Saint John Chrysostom
