Since 2023, St. Monica-St. Michael School has proudly implemented the Accelerated Reader (AR) program, using the digital library platform myOn. AR, myOn, and Star 360 are developed by the same company, allowing reading levels and goals in AR to be directly aligned with the Star 360 Reading Scores. This dynamic suite of programs, designed by the same trusted educational company, not only motivates students to cultivate a love for reading but also provides targeted support to enhance literacy development. By utilizing this innovative system, we are able to foster a deeper, more engaged learning experience, empowering our students to achieve academic success.
How It Works
Books and article under AR and myOn have points. Each student has their own reading points to achieve as a goal. After finishing a book, students take a quiz with ten questions about the book to get points. Every classroom meets their goal once all students meet their own goals. As a whole class and a school, we compete and encourage each other to meet the goals. We can also encourage students to read at home. If students already have books that they are reading at home, students or parents can check to see if the book is under the program. If it is, it counts as an AR book!
